Things I have brought today

I have brought my warm, weathered waist coat
Which is creased like an elephants hyde
Also with me is a mood so melancholy
That the birds have withdrawn as to escape
Its shadowy clutch
For time I gaze at the seasonal rain
And bare barren trees
To inform me of its meaning
For company I only have this mind full of memories
To remind me of better times
My musik now belongs to the distant roll of cars
Passing by, sounding like waves
Washing against the seashore
As their tyres crush against the tarmac
So what have I brought of any value?
