Best Laid Plans

It has been freezing and absolutely pouring rain all this week. I’ve only been out to take in the wheely bins. Have had a postal vote since covid times, so didn’t even have to go to a polling station.
However, having hit the tidying up wall, literally, and weather not permitting walking anywhere, I had intended to go to the flix on Thursday, to see Kevin Costner’s new western.
‘Dancing with Wolves’ was brilliant, a big screen vista of a movie, much like ‘Out of Africa’, nothing like the same thrilling experience watching them on small screens. So, it’s a must to see ‘Horizon’ on the big screen too.
During the studio tidy-up, I stubbed my big toe. I didn’t think much about it, after the hopping-expletives dance we all do in such situations. Thursday morning, I could hardly put my foot flat on the floor. Googling ‘how to tell if a toe is broken’, initial steps (painful as they are), put some frozen peas on it, elevate it, seek medical help if it changes colour or a fever develops.
I didn’t have frozen peas or a broken toe, but spent the day resting with the foot elevated. It was the right thing to do, the toe was much better Friday morning, except I woke up with what I thought was shingles.
Couldn’t get through to NHS, nor the GP surgery, so called the pharmacist who saw me and confirmed, shingles. It’s caught early, and medication has been prescribed. Apparently, there’s a lot of it about.
Wild west will have to wait, and I’m afraid so will journalling for a few weeks. Am fine, but a real rest and recuperation is what the pharmacist ordered, and I am complying.
Hope to journal again later in the month, August at latest.

So sorry to hear you have
So sorry to hear you have shingles - Well done for spotting it early and getting meds (and thank goodness for the new pharmacist rules that enable them to prescribe for some things). Fingers firmly crossed that you recover well and quickly and that you come back soon with your posts - we'll miss them!

Sad to hear
. My mum had shingles last year and the blessed thing hung around for weeks, hope you are not too uncomfortable and your meds help. Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Take care of yourself and stop kicking the furniture (ow!)
Best
