On High with the Angels

Drove home on Monday via the Glamis Road, avoiding the queues from Dundee roadworks. Exited for Kinfauns and rather than go left towards Scone, out of curiosity, turned right, to investigate a new road. Won’t be taking it again, as was so steep up in the hills, I can’t imagine how they got the tarmac to stick without it running down the hillside. Also is single track, and white van men are using it to bypass Dundee too. Can’t blame them, but the road has steep sides with few passing places, and reversing would be a nightmare. White van men don’t appear to think that they should be the ones doing the reversing. Same goes for people in 4X4s. Where’s the fun in that? What’s the point of a Range Rover if you’re not willing to go off-road? I’d be driving through streams if I had one. Anyway, at the summit, the view right over the River Tay was spectacular. I love seeing the geographical shapes of the land, just like they’re illustrated on maps. Tay water was chalcedony blue. Still, it was a relief to get back onto the Glamis Road. Got stuck behind three tractors. No problem when there were fields-full of geese, and seven swans a-snacking, to marvel at.
Came home to the town Christmas lights, an angel opposite. The last few years, haven’t put up a tree, just big Swedish stars and fairy lights along the mantles, but am swithering this year. I’ll see. I don’t recall seeing so many Christmas trees up by the end of November before. There seemed to be lots last weekend. I suspect people are longing for something cosy and comforting, given what’s going on in the world. May as well put your tree up in November, have a mince pie.

Sorry, fucked up on my first
Sorry, fucked up on my first tries, which read: yeah, may as well. You must be a Jimi Hendrix fan on account of your handle or I'm just an assuming asshole. Either way, enjoyed the read.
