Life's Up and Downs

Begrudgingly decided against driving to Peterhead ARC cinema to see ‘Goldfinger’ retrospective. I don’t relish driving on icy country roads, even If I did have a gadget-filled Austin Martin DB5, (preferably in red). Getting there would be doable, but driving back in pitch dark when there’s likely to be black ice on the winding country roads, nope. Absolutely adore Sean Connery, but not enough to risk my neck for. Am sure he’s up there in heaven being devasted.
“Yesh, Mish Moneypenny”.
Felt a bit blue, not going. Want to be braver than that, but it’s not worth it. It’s very sad. 60th Anniversary of ‘Goldfinger’ too. Have it on DVD, but it’s not the same.
On the bright side, no septuagenarian sozzlers.
Went along the coast instead, watched hail-storms out at sea, heading for Peterhead. Made the right decision.
On the even brighter side, manilla envelopes containing a new tax code and the HMRC tax rebate cheque arrived last week. The rebate will fully cover the car insurance due at the end of the month. And has already covered the purchase of some weird trousers and a bonnie bowl at the Pennan Village Hall Christmas Fayre. (It was the splashy waves that made me do it. They made me all exuberant. Then, I splashed out too).
Yesterday, got word that the lying bus driver’s insurance company are paying up in full for the exorbitant costs to repair my garden wall. The money should take 28 days to get here, but am feeling victorious about a win for common decency. Dear lying bus driver, in the words of the great Mel Brooks, when asked what he says in response to his critics, replied, “Up yours”.
Also in the post, NHS bowel screening test kit.
Just some of life’s ups and downs.
