Zen and the Art of Calorie Counting

May 29th was National Biscuit Day. At last, a meaningless national day I can embrace.
From January to March, I attended a weekly class run by one of Aberdeenshire’s fabulous ‘Live Life, Aberdeenshire’ initiatives. This is where I found out about the very useful, but bossy, NHS Weight Loss app. I still use it and am still punching in the calories as I walk my way to a healthier old age. Certainly, my middle-age couldn’t have been more sedentary, and latterly, stress-filled. So, lots to do.
The golden rule about calories is, it’s not just about quantity, it’s about quality first and foremost. One could have a virtuous tablespoonful of very-good-for-you seeds; sunflower, flax, golden linseed, and pumpkin. All for a vitamin, mineral and protein-busting 105 calories. Or, one could have a ‘Hebridean Baker Chocolate Oatie’ biscuit at a mere 95 calories. They are the second best biscuit in the whole world, afterall. But that’s not the game. My game is, working it out so I can have both, just not every day. Over time, small changes; big difference.
As a carboholic, it is a challenge not to have three chocolate oaties at a time, but mastery of biscuitry is all part of Life’s deep-dunking crunchy journey.
Years of empirical research enables me to bring to you the name of THE best biscuit in the whole world. Of course, from the blessed Fortnum & Mason, I give you, food of gods, the ‘Dark Chocolate Macadamia Nut’ biscuit. You’ll burn off the calories fretting over the price.
On Silver Screen Day at the cinema, the film for a fiver includes tea and a biscuit. I can’t bring myself to take one, apart from the open-box hygiene issue, it contains the worst biscuit in the whole world.
The pink wafer.
39 Calories.

Question
Does a biscuit connoisseur ever consider it acceptable to dunk one into tea?

oh I really quite like pink wafer biscuits once in a while, but then I'm not a dunker so can see why they wouldn't work for you

Never mind biscuits, reading
Never mind biscuits, reading your diary entries has become a tea time treat and no calories at all :0)

Quantity and quality
Quantity and quality have both got me beaten. Apparently there's nothing in the world better for me than our locally produced yoghurt and honey. Eating it every day for the last eight years I expected to develop the physique of a Greek god but instead I have the slightly deflated body of a 1980s Bulgarian Olympic shot putter.
I think I might just try your biscuits.
