The music of this place;
cuckoos and skylarks
in conversation with the trees.
Midges dance with glee
at the sound and tree limbs
wave in agreement with the wind.
This is a time of abundance.
Everywhere green plants grow.
Slender, delicate stems cover
last year’s rave;
decaying bracken are all
that remain of that!
Nearby ancient Birches sprout
new braches from their roots.
Bluebells throw out their scent
as stealthy mosses creep over
unsuspecting tree trunks and boulders.
Down the hill a woven picture of leaves
and branches sway.
My senses are overcome.
Maybe the bracken know this;
they will soon simplify the scene
covering it all with their blatant fronds.
