Catching the eye

Patchwork views
of greeny hues –
blot on the landscape,
gaudy rape;
verge splash
– stitchwort stars bright,
tippex-white,
forget-me-not haze,
dandelions ablaze;
fruit of the elm –
green circles of film,
seed wings in bunches,
decorate bare branches –
looking up through,
patterns on the blue;
drooping chestnut leaves,
newly hatched, limply lie
to inflate, billow up
like wings of a butterfly.

A colorful patchwork in full
A colorful patchwork in full Spring glory. You paint with words, Rhiannon. Loved the rhyme - very fitting, and beautiful description.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Lovely poem, but I was surprised you used blot on the landscape. Don't you like gaudy rape? I do.

I think it's pretty and
I think it's pretty and catches the light making such a vivid splash, but I knew what you meant. This conversation is looking quite funny now, and I have to remind myself we are talking about a flower here.
