Eight choughs standing on the fence in a row –
red in beak and red in toe,
zoom the camera those three to better see –
they’ve turned this way – to pose, or look at me?

a walker stops to speak – away three fly,
soon all wave their wings and take to the sky.

Chuffed to see, and chuffed to glean
such photographs of eight choughs seen.

What an amazing experience Rhiannon and to capture it on camara how lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Thanks, Jenny. It was a lovely and fun experience. We've caught a glimpse once or twice of chough quite long ago, but from a distance, so this was so unexpected and quite spectacular. It was rather a sea-misty day, and my husband had not got around to getting his camera out of his backpack, and didn't manage to get it out in time, so I was so pleased my little camera 'point and shoot' quickly worked! I like your photo :0) they look like they are in a theatre waiting for a performance! Do you think they didn't want to get wet feet on the grass?

! smiley It was such a surprise to see them close to, and to notice their bright red legs and beaks, and yes, as if they were in a stage routine, and then to notice on the close up that the three were staring at me as if they had turned their heads in synchrony. On the first picture, one of the 3 seems to be looking at me but not the other 2. I suppose they were up on the posts to look out. Rhiannon
