and then again
10 lots of 10 make such a lot
– that's a 100 sheep you've got!
(a lot!)
 
Jesus told a story one day
of when a sheep goes straying away.
The shepherd cares and travels far
though he hasn’t got an off-road car.
(no car!)
 
All the rest of the 100 sheep
were safely eating or asleep,
but he’s so happy when this one
is found, and brought back safely home.
(back home!)
 
Just so is Jesus,
so happy to see us
listening to him,
the Shepherd-King.
 
[IP: Lost and found] Children are fascinated to see a visual of what a 100 looks like. I used to have a fan of 10 groups of 10 and one had a removable individual.

It is always nice to read your bible related poems.  I spend most of my nights counting sheep.

thank, Jean. Sometimes I start counting countries of the world alphabetically, and try to remember to lift them up in prayer. I keep remembering one of a previous letter I'd missed! But often I wake up and think, Oh, where did I get to?! Rhiannon

Clever, the idea of counting on your fingers and toes. Thus in our familiar base ten. To be honest I don't like the idea of being a sheep.

Once before school even I announced in my friend's mothers car: "Ten Times Ten is a Hundred". She was upset hey, I had no idea even what it meant I just heard one of the bigger kids saying it to a friend.

Children can be so different in what things they take an interest in and when. And images of what one hundread actually means can be interesting/useful. I remember a story where a father put  a square of  mm graphpaper on a wall, I think it probably was 1m by 1 m to show what 1 million little squares looked like. Rhiannon
