Fair’s fare

A bit of fun with homonyms of two homophones – I’ve just been reading what those words mean! I think some of the homonyms have similarity of meanings.

“Where can I take you?” he asked his fare.
‘I’m off to the fair for something rare.
I’m told they’re providing sumptuous fare,
and rides and stalls, so without a care,
as the weather's fair, the fun I must share.
How much will you charge me – what is the fare?’
“It won't be unfair, you’ll have money to spare.
I think my missus will be somewhere there,
she’ll be dressed in red, has curly hair
that’s coppery-fair, says she likes to dare
clashing red coats and hats to wear.
There's fairly good safety, enjoy, take care,
and thanks for the cash – all's fair and square.”

Thanks, Jean, yes. Also, a real challenge to try to use similar sounding words (whether spelt the same or not) without being totally too cumbersome for the reading. Made me realise how much one would avoid that normally, aesthetically. Rhiannon

Your taxi caught my eye, my dear, as I was scrolling by.

It made me stop and wonder, are you selling? Could  I buy?

It looks a lovely model, tell me, was it awfully awfully dear?

Mine was bashed to bits you see, I ran into a deer.
