Miss M in Dock Green

‘Evening, all’, said George, ‘Today,
I met a lady who saw a thief
run away:
there she was quietly sitting
watching through the window
while gently knitting …
“Oh, Mr Dixon,” she said; “Go quickly,
catch that Joe Billy
hiding in the shed.
Such a silly boy.
Surprise him now
to teach him how stupid it is
and wrong.
Weak nature’s the same
in village and city –
such a pity.
I knew that Joe’s eyes
were greedy like Tom
in St Mary Mead,
my village back home,
but be kind to catch him at once,
and maybe then
he’ll begin to learn
not to despise
to be good, and wise
for wisdom
is better than prison!”'

Ingenious! Now you've got me thinking how great it would have been if these two had actually met. Lovely IP response.

Two great characters here,
Two great characters here, deftly brought to life, and with a light touch - I liked it Rhiannon.

Tom Tom
Tom Tom the piper's son stole a pig and away he run. Tom was beat and he went howling down the street. Serves him well. Goes to show, crime does not pay. Only smuggling cigarettes is a very lucrative occupation it pays very well. The solution is apparently making “legal” cigarettes in fact totally unaffordable and now everyone is supposed just to give up smoking. Just like that. Even the police men.
All the best! Law abiding citizens! Nolan &
