Monnow Valley – early spring
By Rhiannonw
- 4350 reads
Monnow valley – gentle, calm,
whispering river, – soothing balm,
hills enclosing, set apart,
bird song, – shadows flit and dart;
by the water, wagtail grey
(tinged with yellow), soon away;
sprouting buds, windflowers unfolding,
lambs high pitched in range of bleating,
sparkling celandines, sun reflecting,
laughing daffodils, – warmth’s returning.

Hi again Rhiannon
Hi again Rhiannon
Another lovely little poem. I like the gentle rhythm, helping to set the scene.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
I was just going back over some of your older stuff and found this beauty. Early Spring is one of my favourite times of the year, it's like suddenly all of nature is coming alive, you've managed to capture so much of that special season in this poem.
Thank you for sharing.
Jenny.
