Just enough hair for a tiny vertical ponytail
on top of her head.
Walking around the house in wellies
(thinking: I can put these on myself –
ready to go out?)
Communicating with those eyes, and hands.
‘Do I really need to try to say those consonants?
Are they really not understanding my ‘Bah, Bay, Boh …’.
Learning to handle long twigs in the garden,
learning to love finding cats (Da!) and dogs (Do!) and balls (Baw!) in book pictures.
and grabbing gran’s finger to feel the funny texture on some pages.
Howling is easier than talking,
still thinks she can rule the house,
give a firm little shake of her head
when obedience is inconvenient,
or misunderstood

She sounds imperious, a strong character! Do I remember right that she is one of twins? I liked your portrait very much, specially "are they really not understanding" can just picture eyes sizing me up, to see if I am thick or being difficult on purpose :0)

Yes, I'm sure some battles will arise soon as she sizes us up, but much fun as well! No, not a twin. I used to write about twins I looked after a bit, and I think read about being with them at that recent zoom meeting. You can read what is going on in their mind so often, and what they are thinking but not able to say yet. Rhiannon
