Ground Ivy,
(not really an ivy!)
the leaves always there creeping
in the leaf litter,
(go reddish brown in strong sunlight)
but studded with such lovely
violet deep-throated flowers
on short upright stems
in the spring –
look and see beneath your feet!

I do like these Spring details on which you shine your wordskills! Ground ivy is one of the few brave things that survive in my shadey garden. It is not out yet. There is a bumblebee who must remember it from last year and is searching through the leaves!

Thank you, Di. I seem to have missed writing about the more usual delights of celendines and wood anenomes and primroses this year, but these small treasures are a delight to notice aren't they? Rhiannon
