Silver swish

Glimpse of silver,
swish and skitter,
fish-like darting, wriggling slither,
little harmless insect flitter;
– do you cringe, or jump or shiver?
Disliked lodgers little matter
if they number just a few,
and they little damage do,
find a grain of starch or two,
nibble up a bit of glue
from a book that’s far from new,
hiding quickly from our view
– rather, from our switched-on light –
silverfish that glide at night.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
This is a fun piece to read. I can remember that we had silverfish when I lived at home. I can't remember where they were or how we got rid of them.
