The specks in whose eye?
By Rhiannonw
- 1338 reads
With pleasure they expose
the grabbing greed of those
whose balance grows and grows
unconscious of the woes
that from their action flows.
But they too covet, who accuse, –
a life of ease they’d also choose,
their scruples fade, if by a ruse
they can find ways to better use
the rich men’s cash, and won’t refuse.
But peace does not come with the hoard,
especially when gained through fraud:
worried by guilt, and scroungers, bored:
know soon they’ll leave all they have stored.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
