Hiding from bombs,
friendship in shelter,
dreaming of halcyon days
– will they see them again, ever?

Toiling to borders
unsafe, so cold –
food and welcome,
loving arms enfold.

See how these welcomers wait,
tired and chilled,
kindness brings tears –
hearts warmed and stilled:

strengthening hope, faith
– war now on earth
but halcyon days
will come again
perfect, untarnished,
unending, no pain.

What a sorry lot the world has come to, but at least, as you mention, there are positives in the welcome and help provided by friends and neighbouring countries.

Thank you. Yes, about both. Many working long and seeking to love and help, and we can support them in prayer for grace to keep going, strengthened, as well as praying about the whole situation. Rhiannon

I certainly hope there's a return of the ' Halcyon days', Rhiannonw. We're certainly in need of more optimism like this. Though it's understanabley hard to at times like this. I'm for optimism. thank you for this.

Thank you. The dedication of many waiting at borders and working at helping centres in nearby countries has given some warmth and hope to many suffering, and that in itself does give a glimpse of such days, and some hope for the future, but also maybe realising the one certain thing is to look to a future world without war and with the most perfect and lasting of joyful fulfilled days – not of 'lazy summer days' but of satisfying eternal life! And receiving the hope of it by grace, as well as support in the hard days. Rhiannon
