AN AWAKENING poem

An Awakening
Surreal mist embraces
a landscape of trees
absorbing early moisture
branches straddled
by patterns of
brocaded spider webs, an
artistic symmetry
thread-coating
a veneer of morning silver.
Salient bullfrogs pause
within the stillness,
awkward croaks restrained
mallards bob in lazy
spirals aside the shoreline,
umbrellas of foliage masking
their water-plowed trails.
In the land of early rise, life is
a humming tune.
