A Cool Respite

February is a blur
of Blue Jays
feeding movements
in erratic display,
nip of frost
against their forms,
eager for a hideaway
not any space but
calm for feathery souls.
If only to escape this
field of wind
and snowy blizzard,
mocking in attendance.
Behind my window
pane I sing deliverance
in coming Spring,
my song an echo of joy.
