DADDY, these are things I want to tell you - essay

I want you to give me a great big
hug. Sometimes you are too
busy. When I grow up I’m going to give
you lots of hugs.
The creek we fished in was cool. Then
my fish wrestled with a wiggly worm
on my hook. Daddy, that
smelly fish was sure yummy.
When I wore my sailor suit, you said
I looked super, dooper. Then
we chased each other
around the room. Playing tag is fun.
You said there are no moose at
Moose Bay Beach. That’s where the sand
played peek-a-boo between
my toes. Where did the moose go?
Horsey-back is my favorite game. Why
do you have to go to work every
day? Daddy, I always tried to
be a good boy until you came home.
When we went grocery shopping
I helped. I even picked out a
box of Corn Flakes. I even pushed the cart.
It was fun after holding your hand.
Once you were tired. And I made
your supper. Did you really like my burnt
toast and milk? And
my leftover bag of peanuts?
Once you were very upset. And we
had a quiet walk. I never went
back to the lake by myself. I love you,
daddy. I love YOU.
