The Evening Sky Lost

its reverential flavour as

the storm swept in

from Halifax already

covered in sleet ice and

eventually snow

now raging towards Truro

part of the sweep

all across Nova Scotia.

 

When it arrived

everyone agreed it

was as bad as Newscasters

predicted all day except twice

as bad as anyone thought,

 

He had to clear

a blanket of white from his

car windows

a flotsam of crystals

that descended an hour ago.

The snow plow cleared

the driving lane from

the seniors apartment and now  

their turn

to clear personal spaces.  

 

A second wave of disruption

awaited just licking away at the 

crescent of Cobequid Hills

on the outskirts of Truro–

a coalition of sleet rain

and snow preparing to flush out

the fearful and converge upon

every niche holding out

in hiding places.

Loved the flow of words and the wintry images- Sounds like time for a snowball fight- build the fort and break out the sled...SNOW DAY! Oh how I miss that crisp cold pristine blanket of beauty - living here in Florida my snow is melted buckets of rain when storms move through- so build a snowman and seize the day for me!  smiley

My youmg gramdchildren (1 and 3) were so excited Saturday night at a slight covering, and their exctied parents took them out in the dark yard to gather snowballs (!) and feel it, as , as expected it had more or less cleared by morning. They'd watched a flurrying of flakes from the door earlier, - their first experiece, and the older went out in the afternoon with her mother to feel chunks of ice from frozen puddles., so they still await their first real experience of snow. I think the older did see some briefly last year when they lived in London, but that is a vague memory! Rhiannon
