On Grant Blvd

Snowflakes fall
in abundance
and I am released
from drifts of pain.
Snow banks build
so I may escape sorrow.
Far away, a love awaits
and I remember –
trips to Cape Breton,
swimming at Tatamagouche
even hikes in Victoria Park
and that plane ride to
Toronto. Chains awaited
locked in memories of love.
To-day the cell within
my imagination dissolves
and I soar again.
I will fly away like the loon,
to be with my bride once more.
