Is it possible to combine
a short story---wife at
your side, ambling slowly
down a parkway path, morphing
into a poem---
a story-poem perhaps?

As her eyes slide sleepily
mimicking moon’s midnight pause
its brightness lighting our path
we discover among
the hush of lateness trail

how trees sound with leanings
against another.

The woods perform like a
heartbeat---a song of peace
with the hint of promise
unrelenting from Natural Menu,
precious in its precision.

Sooz, your continuing encouragement is really appreciated. I often get folks who ask me why I don't submit to journals anymore. Well, I may not be around at my age, before hearing back from three to nine months on whether or not they wish to publish my work. This way, posting to ABC, gets my work on immediately. Some of my writer friends say the best poetry is not necessarily posted; however I refute that by saying many of the posted poems are as good if not better than printed ones. Yet, one day I wish to have at least one book of poetry published by a print company. In the meantime, I do not post anything I am not proud of, and for each particular poem, I put the best I can into it. R

Thank you Richard. You are prolific and write some lovely stuff. I always think of you as a very gentle soul, happy with your lot. And yes, I think you should make a selection of your best and put them into print so that they'll be around for generations after we've all gone.
