Lady of the Day

She absorbs me with
her eyes and a
usual wave of cheerfulness
almost makes me
fall to my knees in benediction
her thankfulness for
years of encouragement
that slim lady of
Chinese descent pony
tail and grey-haired bonding
we’re brother and
sister in a march to aging
as we savour
a renewed world of joy
and I tidy along
in today’s harmony.
