Light at Dusk

Coloured layers herald
evening light, just
another day in the forest.
Gone are assaults from
machines tormenting
this expanse
of prime timber
where burnished pines
now guard as
silhouettes atop
serene ridges
viewing wilderness
as a domain
within ancient sunsets.
Prodding wind, a red sky
and yellowish tinge. From
afar no absence of awe.
