The Long Road Home
By Richard L. Provencher
- 868 reads
begins with a little boy
and his dog Prince
both skipping along a gravel road.
Cars are few -- money
is a dream and allowances
unknown. Life is simple
a hike with your
dog and chewing a tootsie roll--
what could be better?
The older man turns to another
page in his album
fingers gnarly and a gasp of breath
accompanied by a tear. How
that little boy grew into a man.

A lovely glmpse of the then,
A lovely glmpse of the then, and now, and a trail of formative memories. I had to look up what a tootsie roll was – seems a nice US/Canadian candy? Rhiannon

That's the best part about
That's the best part about photographs and memories, we can remember a time when life was free, simple and there for the taking.
I loved this poem and thank you for sharing.
Jenny.
