From My Back Porch

I can hear a world

with untamed emotions

of cars and

mail delivery vans

garbage trucks

& other sets of wheels-

Working folks finally home

children hollering

evening get-togethers

tires in motion

now mute-

a shame one has to wait

many years to retire

then sit quietly

at the back porch

alone and listen to the

clatter of life

among families

with

various adventures

on the menu.
