This Older Man

sought comfort in those
evening colours. Like
a bowl of mom’s porridge
the sky rippled across his view
saluting the end of
another worthwhile day.
Through the dusty
window images seem
to echo as pages
from a photo album:
saw four children growing
as corn shoots
racing to full height
his wife laughing
by his side. Memories
flooding and now the
clouds scrambling – their
momentum
bringing him back
to this Nursing Home.

That's a lovely picture of memories.
I have a mother-in-law in a nursing home who is troubled a lot by troubled dreams, which seem to have their roots in a life of fears and worries and anger that she suppressed and now has partially sorted out, and I keep urging her to really let go of it all and rest in a real trust and peace in God who will care, and fully understands. She has always said she trusts, but only seems to be beginning to sense the reality of it Rhiannon
