The Sky
By Richard L. Provencher
- 965 reads
is a tenor in an
orchestra of music
its proud evening shades
of sunshine dropping
as notes in a soliloquy
during twilight.
The nearby farm
family in prayer
supper’s on the table
potatoes & chicken
breast the main attraction.
All is well in the
countryside
snow banks a reasonable
height – barn keeping
out the snow
and fence posts holding
strong in the wind.

Did you mean the whole
Did you mean the whole metaphor of the first stanza, Richard? I couldn't suggest any change. I was puzzled at first at the metaphor, - why 'tenor' and then I thought, well, I suppose 'bass' would be like the darker shades of night, so tenor does seem rather apt for the evening shades, and describing the changing shades as a soliloquy.
I think you will have to leave it settling in your mind, and see if you find anything you want to clarify later! Rhiannon
