Sunset Soon Down

A clump of sunset
feasts our vision with embers
of receding light
time to withdraw
from the chill
and enjoy time to sleep
to regain strength.
Yet come –
we are so called
there is much to oversee
a wing for preying
an owl seeking a meal
shifting forest limbs
wind’s melody
like the swoop of a bat
horizon silhouetted
as a guardian of worth.
A moose excites --
gait so proud and free
daylight only a memory.

Such a natural poem Richard. Loved the lines:-
shifting forest limbs
wind's melody
like the swoop of a bat
I liked the way it was written with such ease,
flowing from one stanza into another.
Very much enjoyed.
Jenny.
