Time Gets Spent

A whirlwind of activity carries the wind of
scented roses,
cattails in joyous abandon
canoes scooting from
a summer sky
downtown flags heroic in their
salute, citizens
pushing against the wind--

project-bulging briefcases
for discussion in
boardrooms of national concern
and nearby a current
of Canada geese in pursuit of
peaceful rest, deer
hooves clattering within Nature’s
smorgasbord.

All are crucial elements in the span of life’s
flow, mingling natural
forces and human experience,
a euphoria of trust upon this planet.
