wish to change the
world
by painting it
using colours of compassion
and hope.
I cover the blood of Syria
in red
as roses in a parade
across the land
children in Libya with
dirty faces
are trees --
their
sad eyes
turn yellow in pineapple colours.
My garden of hope
extends to all those who wish
freedom and love –
green for once arid land
in Palestine
purple in valleys of lost dreams
and compassion
a gift.
In the land of Afghanistan
I paint black
across dope in the fields
so the sun will dry
it up and wither away
then paint smiles across a
mother’s face
to raise her children
in peace.
