Tree of Life

Around and upward they
scoot and twitter
absorbing
Spring’s icy coating
sparrows flit in uneasy
ecstasy, pecking birdseed
in hasty gulps
watchful, my eyes
surround the
gathering flock –
on the radio
country tunes strut their
songs of life.
I see
a comparison
with these feathered flurries
anxious in full emotion,
their dance around
the tree.
Once there was one, now
a hastily gathered
dozen gobble the grain
thankful, prancing
‘round the tree.
