A prologue

A prologue to a story I'm just starting - love to know if it makes sense, its meant to be a bit vague as will be the experience of two seperate characters, one at the start and one at the end of the story :)
Prologue
The roar of the wind whipping and ripping through the air. The shock of the cold snatching away the breath. The scratch of the salt stinging the eyes. Surrounded by silence and darkness. Is this Death? There is nothing. Nothing, until...a movement. Beneath, and above, and everywhere, and nowhere all at once. Then, rising… rising…emerging from the deep into the light. Bright white horses rear up and crash down in random directions, swirling and whirling and humming with the voices of a thousand dead sailors. A hand reaches into the water. Warm and soft and flesh and blood. It is familiar, strong and safe. The hand of love.

Nice distinct style of yours
Nice distinct style of yours which I've always liked. Haunting and I think the vagueness leaves you wanting more.
