The Bliss of Solitude

I took the toxic chocolate drop
And placed it on the back of my
Louche catflap tongue
All the better to see you with
My dear
The panes shattered in unison
As the deluge burst in
One dissonant chord
Severed from the surrogate mother
You left for dead
Amongst the cadaverous owls
And their round rheumy eyes
Like licked dinner plates
My ankles are submerged
My bladderwrack hair angry and knotty
Ruins shored against my fragments
Tar-speckled kelp spread
and sparkling starfish
Five-fan deliciously
With the promise of sin and the twist
Of the fractured wrist
Where the skin breaks
You can see the contagion
Bone spillikins and brass knitting needles
Did the sun shine when you wept
For the death of your innocence?
