She always knew one day she would fall completely and utterly in love she just didn’t know when it would be. But she waited, every day looking for the one that she just knew would be right for her to make her life complete.
She worked during the day in a newsagents, long days of standing behind the counter meeting people and chatting to strangers. Always on the look out for those special eyes or presence that would make her sure - but still no sign of ‘him’.
Nights were spent in her small lonely flat, just one room really but with her own kitchenette. The wallpaper was peeling and the chip fat smells from next door would waft through her window but she just knew the misery and loneliness wouldn’t last for ever. She just had to wait and be patient.
At the weekends she took long walks through the town centre and to the park, trying not to arouse suspicion that she might be a weirdo, but she knew she had to put in the hours,do the research. Otherwise she might not make the right decision when the time came, she had to be sure after all.
It was a warm day in September and she took her usual route up to the shops when she just glanced inside the first door on the left. Her heart pounded, her hands grew sticky as she clenched them together and her breath came in short noisy gasps.
There he was! Warm choclatey eyes that would melt the coldest heart met hers. Wavy long brown hair that matched his eyes to perfection glistened as the sun caught the golden highlights that were hidden amongst its lush thickness. Its him! At last!
She rushed into the shop, straight up to the counter and said the words that she had waited so long to say
‘how much is that doggy in the window’
