The Scooteria Kids go to Football
The Scooteria Kids were back at school after half-term, but Harry
Hexagon had not returned from Italy yet. They were soon into their
school routine. The more they played ScootBall, the more they wanted to
watch the real game of football.
EmmaT4 particularly wanted to find out about the team called
Spurs.
"Look at these cards, Emma."
It was her friend Charlotte who was also keen on football.
"These are all cards about Spurs. I don't want them because my team is
Liverpool. Do you want them?" Charlotte asked.
Emma became very interested in the cards, and the team, and especially
one player, a Frenchman called David Fallova.
"Let's go and watch the Cherries," suggested Tommy Typhoon, "they're
our local team and they play in my colours, red!"
Their friend Daisy's Dad got them some tickets for the next Cherries
match, and off they went one Saturday to watch the match against
Scunthorpe.
"You must be joking! You can't come in here," laughed the steward,
"you're all scooters!"
They had arrived at the gate number shown on the tickets, but could not
get past this awkward man.
PX Peter had an idea. "Look, Sir," he said slowly, trying to control
his anger, "could we watch from the disabled area, where the
wheel-chairs and invalid cars are. We would be OK there, wouldn't
we?"
The steward finally agreed, "OK, I don't suppose you would be a problem
there."
"Oh, thank you very much," replied the cheeky Lucy Liberty, one of
Emma's sisters, sarcastically.
The Scooteria Kids had a great time at the match, even though
Scunthorpe won.
Emma still wanted to see the great Spurs. Her dark blue matched the
blue of their white and blue kit, and David Fallova looked beautiful.
She decided to write to Spurs to get tickets for the last game of the
season against rivals Arsenal.
The Scooteria Kids went to several Cherries matches and became very
popular there. The Club had heard about their ScootBall game.
An exhibition ScootBall match was organised at the Cherries ground
during half-time of the big Cup match against Southampton. Because the
Scooteria Kids' tyres would damage the pitch, an area of the car-park
was cleared for the game.
The crowd really enjoyed the ScootBall exhibition and some even started
calling for ScootBall matches instead of what they normally watched on
the pitch!
The big day came. Spurs were level with Arsenal at the top of the
League and had to win to take the Premiership title.
Emma led the Scooteria Kids all the way to White Hart Lane, Spurs
ground in North London. Even Spurs had heard about the ScootBall team
and had arranged for them to watch from the disabled area. Emma so
wished that Harry was with them, she was really missing him now. It had
been Harry who had helped Emma's interest in the Spurs after he had
found some old stories of the great team.
Harry was, in fact, on his way back from Italy, feeling better after
the loss of his beloved Sonia Sfera. In the darkness of the ship's
hold, he noticed the red glow return, the same red glow which had
changed him and Sonia when they first went to England. The same red
glow which had given child-like life to the Scooteria Kids. This time
though, the glow settled on three other scooters.
The three came to life and Harry went over to see them.
"Hello," Harry ventured, in the hope that the red glow would have had
the same effect on them as it had on him all that time ago, "I'm
Harry."
The large, stylish, silver machine found herself saying, "Hello, I'm
AleX9, and these are my two boys, NickyNRG and the IceMan, as he calls
himself, because he thinks he's so cool - they are both real
handfuls!
She introduced Nicky, a flash black and green machine, and the silver
IceMan.
"Would you like to travel back with me?" asked Harry, "I've settled in
a lovely town near the sea, and my girls and their friends are already
there."
"Well, we could have a look," replied AleX9, cautiously.
For the rest of the journey, Harry described life in the seaside town.
Nicky and the Iceman were getting very excited about the place, while
AleX9 was becoming more interested in Harry.
Back at White Hart Lane, kick-off approached. Despite the Scooteria
Kids different colours, they all wore something in the white and dark
blue of Spurs, even Tommy the Red!
Spurs took an early lead, but Arsenal came back at them with everything
they had. The pressure was intense, and they finally equalised with
only 5 minutes to go. The excitement was fantastic, the noise
incredible.
The referee had checked his watch for the fourth time, they were well
into injury-time when Fallova received the ball on the left.
He beat two players and was now running straight towards the Scooteria
Kids, who by this time had their lights flashing and were blaring their
horns to the rhythm of the crowd! Fallova was forced right down to the
goal-line, just feet away from them.
"The ref's going to whistle! You've got to shoot now!" screamed
Emma.
Fallova looked up, saw the ref about to blow, swerved inside and bent
the ball goalwards. The whistle was at the ref's lips as the ball
curved towards the top corner.
"There can't be time, surely. The goalie will save it, anyway."
But he didn't! The ball was in! The whistle had gone, but was it for
full-time? No, it was for a goal, not just any goal, but the winning
goal, the Premiership-winning goal, scored by Emma's favourite player,
the crowd's favourite player, and here he was, turning to run towards
the Scooteria Kids. Where was he going? Emma was hugging her sisters
and friends and hardly noticed the extra weight as someone jumped on
her!
"Come on, let's go! A victory lap, yeah!" she heard a French voice say,
above the noise of the crowd.
It was him, the great David Fallova, wanting Emma to take him on a
victory lap around the famous ground, with the crowd singing "Glory,
glory&;#8230;&;#8230;"
