Ra's last red-hot rays
fall upon the wild garden
this strange summer's end

the honey-dew is
halved in the chess-board kitchen...
under dim blue light

the mail-man bustles,
the crow caws and the dove coos
all as if on cue

marijuana fumes hang
in the noon Sunday air like
lazed piano notes
