On Hegel

As the eminent philosopher Hegel argued, historical progress is largely non-linear, and our world- although so advanced in technology and other fields, has much to learn from history and its thinkers and leaders. Perhaps because our age is so exciting and successful, we really have a tendency to condescend toward that which came before, but as in the case of science, we should not do so.
The Scientific Method is not new- For well over a century now, universities and institutions have been conducting strict, blind, peer-reviewed studies on various subjects. And yet today's scientific community and press can tend to forget about this vast repository of scientific knowledge.
As it is in science, so it is in life more widely: from art to philosophy to spirituality.

I stopped reading New
I stopped reading New Scientist when I got tired of reading "We now know that..." on theoretical topics that you just know (!) will be junk in a hundred years.
