I saw it lurking on the edges of the bush forest,
a miniature Aslan of the backyard
with golden eyes over a Chesire smile,
paws that caress the blades and leave them greener.
I crouched warrior style
I cooed it a love song
I offered it my hand,
which it disdained after a scavenger's nuzzle.
So I watch my love over a latte
elegantly Trafalgaring mating fire-beetles.
I could seduce it with a saucer of milk
but that's how I lost my dairy farm.
