I've been staying at my Mom's house in Ashland, OR. I've accepted a job at a university in Thailand that starts at the beginning of November. I passed up a job in Korea that payed three times as much with approximately the same cost of living. I did so because the Thailand job has fewer hours and is located in a very small city surrounded by Buddhist temples. I hope to use my free time to continue my study of the world.
Recently, I've been reading various writings of Thoreau and "Do It Now" by J. Donald Walters. I find them both to be brilliant but over-confident men. In my opinion, the very act of speaking generally is usually arrogance. The world is made up of tiny details, the comprehension of which requires great focus and humility. I have certainly not always had this latter trait.
Today, I found three green acorns in Lithia Park. I juggled with them and this did a lot to bring back my confidence. However ragged I am, I still have a bit of coordination and focus. Yesterday, as I was walking and feeling quite down, a crow flew overhead and cawed. This was uplifting because the crow has spiritual significance for me.
