Remember How Nice The Old World Was ?

I never saw the fast moving sheep. Was too fast. Nasty smell though, that I did notice. I admit that my reactions and observations are far from what is expected. I’d be a dead soldier and a missed loveable fool. Well maybe, can’t be that sure nowadays. People are different, some are filled with an icy hatred; I run from those. Nearly been killed by a lady’s vicious tongue once, well thirteen times really. Right awkward bitch she was, should have been a sergeant major she should; the New World Order would not have stood a chance! Her name was a bland one, Mildred, see told you it was non de script! Can’t fool an old fool like me, been here and there; not quite everywhere
I miss sparrows. Don’t see them anymore. They reminded me of when life had sunshine and ice cream, and children were innocent. Now they shoot their own mother as soon as they climb from the womb. Midwifes would wear bullet proof vests in case the shooter was a crap shot, as it’s a hit and miss affair for a newborn to have a true aim. All this talk of guns reminds me of my all time hero, you probably wont remember him - Clint Eastwood. He was the man. Cold eyed and calculated good looking gunslinger, always upholding the truth. Reckon if Clint would have been pope the congregation would have been all worshipping ponchos !!!
Sheep never used to move so fast. I never used to move so slow. Now I’m near the trap door, soon be on the other side; then the bad guys wont be able to touch me. Being a shepherd is no longer an old mans game, and me, well I’m past nearly everything. I sit out in the fields hoping to see a single blade of grass, my sheep look at me and shake their heads. I often wonder what them woolly creatures think about. One day, friend, one day I’ll find out.
Mildred never did like me, said I was too mouthy and cock sure of myself. Always smiling, she didn’t like people who smiled, and I laughed too ! I love laughing, I love the sound of laughter; love seeing people laugh. When it became a punishable crime to laugh I was heartbroken. I remember that first day when the MFP started putting warning posters up, informing us that smiling was a punishable offence; and laughter carried a death sentence. I’d warned people what was going to happen, only a few listened to what I had to say; people were too self centred.
Now I spend most of my time out in the barren fields with my sheep, better company than you people; and trustworthy too. No chance of one of my flock turning snitch on me. Can’t say that about people. No. Keep people away from me.
