It started in the pit of my stomach
rising, the way bread dough rises
in warm soft breaths
feeding on itself, taking tiny pockets
of air, dividing, dividing again
champagne also, ferments in this way
conjuring exquisite bubbles out of nothing
but the simple, basic act of breathing
fizzing over like a shook up bottle of tizer
popping candy of the heart
I held the essence of it, I thought it would last
it tickled my nose, then
it was gone, leaving only thin cold air

I remember reading Bullfinch
I remember reading Bullfinch back in September and being pretty intimidated but also inspired to get better and I think I have and a lot of that is down to reading yours, Tinas, seashores and a few others on here who are producing such good poems. I think i'm saying (badly) thanks and that I love your poems. :-)

Hi shoe,
What a wonderful description you conjure up here,
I love the idea of champagne conjuring exquisite
bubbles out of nothing.
A great little read and well deserved of cherries.

Beautiful and terribly
Beautiful and terribly original imagery - which, of course, what constitutes a beautiful poem.
