A great, grey heron
rises – black-cloaked
against
a cornflower-dawn sky...
wings – outstretched
shadowing
the fields of summer;
corn ripens
ripples
in a sudden corridor
of wind. Poppies
nod – black eyed;
red petals, shed
to the whim
of a capricious breeze...
while beneath a willow
sleeps my love...
the boy
with eyes of ambergris
and whose body
shines
with the light
of a flight
of wild geese
rising high
above these
hollyhock hills,
to the other side
of a morning moon.

Any art can seem such a pale
Any art can seem such a pale reflection of the real thing! But how writing can focus the attention on detail on more than we 'see' on our own.
lovely detail again, Rhiannon

I like your words they really capture the imagination,
the boy
with eyes of ambergris
and whose body
shines
with the light
of a flight
of wild geese
