From Mattie with Love
By Silver Spun Sand
- 1554 reads
Naked...all except
a Chinese silk kimono,
cross-legged she sits –
framed by a window,
painting her nails;
the outline of her body –
a charcoal silhouette,
etched on blank canvas.
Legs – nudging her breasts
mouth – slightly apart; head,
bent in concentration,
a punctilious pink tongue
feathers her top lip.
At risk of putting her
off kilter, I trace the pulsing
blue river runs through
that slender ankle...
right down
to those rosebud toes,
the colour of crushed
ripe strawberries;
her fingers grasp mine –
deftly she guides me
to the hem
of her gown...
Written there,
in her hand,
words of such beauty...
red lacquer standing out
against the dragon,
breathing fire’s
jet-black folds –
begging to be read...
as any poem is
from Mattie with love.
