With the Mother of all Headaches...

woke up this morning
 
Got out of bed
after making love
with the boy
I found there –
called me, Sweety-Pie
 
Had two daughters
one goldfish
three rabbits
and a stick insect
 
Played house 
cut the grass 
painted the fence 
three times  
 
Took out the trash
 
Mended the Hoover – 
cremated the toast
mowed a rat – alive
never made a Yorkshire rise  
 
Learnt to drive – 
and how not to ride a horse – 
gave up giving up
on Yoga.  
 
Went ballroom dancing;
the teacher disowned me
so took up sketching instead – 
my pièce de résistance –
off-kilter rainbows
 
Knitted a bedspread
three scarves
and a tea-cosy
 
Took out the trash
 
Got hooked
on little pink pills
and then beat it  
 
Read Tuesdays with Morrie
and thought of him as God
 
Saw Thelma and Louise
and thought of them
as angels disguised
as Bonny and Clyde  
 
Buried one child –
baked sour dough bread
and took up macramé
Went to see a shrink 
 
Took out the trash
 
Planted an olive tree
talked to it, but it never
understood me
 
In my mind took a ride
in a hot-air balloon, but
it soon went off, ‘pop’
when I hit the Antarctic 
 
Put my life in a drawer
 
I’m sure I did, or
might have been a cupboard...
just somewhere safe;
the thing is...today 
I can’t find it

Oh, I remember this one, Tina - or at least parts of it. I love the run through life of it, so matter of fact, almost glibly throwing in the shock and sadness as part of the parcel - gives it an edge of understated anger, along with the humour throughout. Witty and very effective.

Seriously though, couldn't not support such a good cause as ABCtales, and all its wonderful members, so, at the eleventh hour, yes I did.
