Somewhere – far off 
a lovers’ knot is tied;
 
a pair of Tawny Owls, 
towitt...towoo; closer, 
closer yet.
 
Wind shifts
a thicket of reeds
through a melange of mist...
 
croons the creek
to the soft-shoe shuffle
of a suddenness of stars...
 
out of nowhere –
(one who perfects the art
of this, here, now...
of stillness – absolute) 
stalks the heron.
 
Closer, closer still
a Tawny, as within
the tangled scrim
a branch snaps
 
and eyes – orbs,
a lethal mix of ambergris
and antonyms
reflect – 
 
become the moon...only
its darkling side
 
as darts, in vain,
the Vole
as does the Mouse..
to no avail
 
as 
lifts
the Heron –
legs trailing
 
head – black crowned
white streaked –
orange beaked...
a Golden Orfe
its booty
 
chasing a sun-sated sky’s
exorbitant beauty.

Really good imagery. Love the twists and flow of the poem to match the flight of the hunters.

The beat of your heart is the mellifluent rhythm to my soul.

Delightful read this one

You get a real sense of silence in the words, very atmospheric I thought, and I do like the photo.

I enjoyed this one too, it certainly built up towards the end.  There is a charity online looking for owl poems...    i submitted some earlier this year if you're interested.
