The Scattering
By Silver Spun Sand

With which of us would you bide,
until today? We who carried you here,
brave comrade – turn, on turn. Only
now, the constant tide would claim you
as its own. So then, drift…carry high
with the wind. Float...float...fly…
on the shamal – shifts these swirling,
drifting sands – bore you away. Blow,
blow...billowing; a spirit – shining,
silver shimmering.
In which ocean will the wind set you free –
let you gently down? Shall you know?
Or shall you breathe a rarer air – meld
as one with this eternal, ongoing explosion;
to live to die, and be reborn as a leaf,
an ear of corn, a bird, or a butterfly? Yet,
for a while at least, to be part of this mighty,
mystic sea, with secrets told… so deep,
they shall be yours for the keeping
and forever ours, for the seeking.

Tina
I knew you had written a poem for Armistice Day and I wanted to find it. This is superb. The last two lines of the first stanza with their alliteration and the last two lines of the second are such jewels in the crown that is this poem. Tina, once again you excell yourself.
