Stuff Happens...

And so it goes.
 
Speak of your pain –
your troubles and I
will speak of mine.
 
At the end of the day
the sun will set
and the moon – rise,
the earth – revolve,
tides – turn, and birds
build their nests.
 
Reproach yourself –
walk on those proverbial
hot coals, for words,
unsaid – deeds undone;
faces – forgotten, 
lips – unkissed, hands,
unheld. 
 
Kid yourself
things might have been
different, if only...
 
But look, only, to the sky,
see swallows flying home...
realise, 
 
you are no more
than a pawn in this game
we call ‘life’; challenging,
heartbreaking, exciting,
daunting, incomprehensible.
 
It is each of these, and
much more besides.
 
From the tiniest fish
to the brightest star –
all that breathes, bays,
breaks, rocks and rolls,
 
or merely exists...has
its designated place
in the grand scheme
of things.
 
The lark will constantly
trill as it rises, the swan
sing its own sad, sweet elegy,
 
and frost – ever nip the bud
that deigns to bloom
before its time.

You've brought everything into perspective. For me, the second verse says it all - at the end of the day for all our fretting, life goes on. Reading this just now has done me good and it's all so neatly put. I especially liked the last three lines.

It is a lovely reminder to get things in proportion, and stop wallowing in looking back, Tina.
But we are more than pawns, we can carry on with trust, if not harbouring grand ideas of what unlikely great things we will achieve! But then, I guess that ' challenging, heartbreaking, exciting, daunting, incomprehensible. It is each of these, and much more besides.' possibly implies that?
Very interesting, and as usual flowing so simply.
