If you were sent to Neptune,
I’d wear a captain’s hat...go steaming
through the stratosphere
in my nippy, rocket-ship...
or found yourself on Venus,
I’d hop up on some star –
beg it, in the name of love,
to try and shoot that far.
Uranus wouldn’t be a place
I’d have a pied-à-terre,
but if you did, I’d visit you,
yet I shouldn’t tarry there.
My vote would go to Pluto –
a more civilised domain;
I’d share the kingdom with you,
together – long to reign.
If you called me up from Mercury
and asked me for a date,
I’d call upon the power of thought
and simply levitate.
Or if you moved to Jupiter –
invited me for lunch,
in Star Trek I would land a part –
tell Scottie, “Beam me up!”
Now Saturn could prove tricky –
quite a job to get that far;
suppose I’d take the ring road,
and drive there in my car.
But if to Mars you got to go,
where there is no turning back,
I’d join you there in four years time,
and a Martian, babe, we’d have!

This is such a clever poem Tina, it put a smile on my face.
I read about the one way ticket to Mars, and do you know I thought about my story Dwellers of the New World and how maybe my story wasn't so far from the truth.
Some great flow of words that gave a great rhythm to your poem.
Very much enjoyed.
Jenny.

This is so clever and funny -
This is so clever and funny - especially this - 'Uranus wouldn’t be a place
I’d have a pied-à-terre,
but if you did, I’d visit you,
yet I shouldn’t tarry there.'
Cheered me up no end and started day with a smile.
Wishing you the same,
Bee
